Success !!! (mostly)
I thought I'd drop a quick note.
After locking myself in a dark room for several days with nothing but a jar of peanut butter, a bag of chocolate chips and half a keg, I got things rolling...
on Fedora Core 2
(oh, and I got some help from frankscorner and the winehq pages...but mostly the beer)
IE6 is now running - there were several dll's missing that I was able to downlaod, and some confusing thing with like-named dll's of different file sizes.
I won't go through the gory details now, but if anyone is interested, please ask.
Now, the other app that I needed IE6 in the first place for will no longer start up. previously, it would open with no functionality. Now with IE6 rolling, it won't even open.
I'm assuming that it has to do something with the DllOverrides (only thing in hte config file that was changed)
Anyone know of good place to learn up on the DllOverride settings? and how to determine what an app is trying to do with what?
bound, if not determined,
I think there is an option to turn on debugging messages. This is extremely helpful when trying to figure out wich dll's an app uses. Btw, when using installshield, try winex. Don't know if the CVS-version has installshield support, but the (warez) version  has support. It saved me when trying to install Paint Shop Pro (wich still doesn't work btw )
if you need an image editor, try the gimp
