wine not working
i have red hat 9 installled version of wine 20041201, the message i get is following, when i type wine on treminal:
/usr/bin/wineserver: relocation error: /usr/bin/wineserver: symbol epoll_create, version GLIBC_2.3.2 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
how did you install wine? (i.e. rpm, source, etc.)
and were you running it as a normal user or root?
lakerdonald we have the same problem. bet you installed it from rpm. i'm having the same problem too. whether you run it as normal or root, the outcome is the same.
oh, i'm not having the problem. just trying to diagnose hehe
okay, well did you get the exact same error message as they did?
i'm having the exact error message they get. in fact when i run winelauncher in terminal, it says that i have to click configure and when I do that i get an error message that winesetup is not in PATH or in /opt/wine/bin and i have to download it from www.codeweavers.com. is that a bug? is the latest version of Wine reallly buggy under RH9 or it was just a misconfiguration?
1)adding the wine install directory to your PATH
2)downloading it from www.codeweavers.com
ok, Wine rpms should automatically create fake Win drives in my home directory. This latest version of Wine does not. and what will i download from codeweavers? they offer commercial apps there.
I've successfully installed a Wine version released around May this year without having these stupid errors.
i've already been there for a dozen times this day. i read the documentation about installing a Wine rpm and it just says is should type: # rpm -ivh 20041201rh9.i686.rpm in terminal and nothing else. I've also downloaded the the Wine version 20041019 for RH9 but got the exactly the same errors.
then install whatever version you wanted to install
