Wine and WoW Problems
So I am having one of those lovely WoW issues.
I have my WoW folder from when I was running Windows, and when I go to open the launcher, I just have it open with Wine and it will come up no problems.
Then the Introduction into the game plays, with no problems at all.
The problem comes when it comes to the log in screen. None of the graphics will load at all, leaving the window completely white, with only the WoW cursor loaded.
Is there a way I can fix this so that I do not have to completely reinstall WoW under Wine?
Help Please =[
I would recommend telling it to use opengl instead of directx. There is a config file under the WTF folder where you can set this value. I think it is like
but I don't remember exactly, i would just google for gxapi.
I added to the config file after looking it up as you said.
The graphics will load in general, but now they are completely warped and the text will not load.
Are you using the proper graphics driver? What is your graphics card?
I honestly have no clue...
When I type
into my terminal it gives me this:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
post contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Do you have desktop effects enabled? This can cause problems with wine. Post output of this command as well
glxinfo | grep -i direct
And direct rendering is enabled and I turned off my visual effects. No real change. Now WoW just kind of freezes my computer >.>

Hmm that is really strange, direct rendering enabled means you have the right driver in use for your card. What distro are you using? Latest ubuntu has a problem with intel driver bundled with it, which is why i'm asking. Also, i'm surprised you got your windows install of wow to even partially work, I never achieved this.
I am using the latest Ubuntu, so perhaps that is the problem. Well what I did was when I switched to Ubuntu, I copied over my World of Warcraft folder to my desktop and would go into the file and open the launcher with Wine. I never actually reinstalled WoW.
I attempted to do a reinstall under Wine, but now it simply comes up completely white after the Introduction. Perhaps I am better off trying to fix my earlier method?
