It is common for executable files to not be marked as executable.
Here is a good link to get you started: linuxreviews.org/beginner/#toc11
Ok when i type: chmod a+x /media/A4681BAC681B7C6C/Program Files/World of WarcraftDutch/Wow.exe
it gives this error:
chmod: cannot access `/media/A4681BAC681B7C6C/Program': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `Files/World': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `of': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `WarcraftDutch/Wow.exe': No such file or directory
But i need this file, so anyone know what i must type?
I'm guessing that you will need to use sudo with that command.
Also, if you can navigate to the folder instead of issuing the command outside of the folder, I'm sure it will work.
Jeez..... We make things seem so hard or cryptic sometimes.
I've used the following method many times without any problems.
To make the file executable do the following if it's saved somewhere in your home directory like the desktop or your documents folder.
Right click on the setup exe file.
From the menu select Properties.
Go to the Permissions tab.
Near the bottom is a check box that says "Allow executing file as a program"
Check the box.
Now right click again and choose open with
Select Wine as the application to run it.
I don't play WOW but several friends do.
I seem to remember them saying that they copied their WOW files from the Windows side to the Linux side after they installed WOW so they would have the same login name and configuration in Linux.
Good luck.
