Need help connecting with encryption through terminal.

Hello everyone, I'm currently running Debian and working over Wireless, and I'm looking to learn exactly how to connect to my own encrypted wireless network using the konsole/shell/terminal, and then looking to learn how to write a script and keep it on the desktop so I can easily connect.. I'm a bit of a Linux newbie, so thats why I'm asking. If you wouldn't mind helping me out with this, it would be an extremely big help. I will also be putting this on the Debian part of the forum too, just because no offense, but I can see the wireless section isn't looked at as much as that, and technically, it is a Debian related sector question.

Thanks everyone! Help get me started in the wonderful world of the operating system.. I can't stand the Windows Hell
