knetwork manager in GNOME

So I installed knetwork manager in Gnome because the package description
stated it worked. However, knetwork manager doesn't seem to be pulling information about the wireless network.

I removed the Gnome Network icon, but there is still a piece in System Administration that wants info about my encryption and the ESSID. The network is Up mind you, but I want to be able to See all Available networks
and I don't want to have to re-initialize the network after every re-boot.

Has anyone else used knetwork manager on Gnome? Maybe I have missing packages or I have to configure knetwork manager or something?

I've also posted on Ubuntu Forums because that's my distro.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
