Question problem connecting to wireless..."unidentified network"

Hi all,
i'm having a terrible time getting a connection on my wireless enabled notebook. Router seems to be working fine connected to the desktop but everytime i try connectin my wireless notebook, it always says "limited or no connectivity" and the wireless network connection icon always indicates "unidentified network" i turned off all firewalls and i've tried troubleshooting several times but still not solving the problem....help anyone?

Which distro are you using?
What is the chipset that your card uses?
You can find the info by doing "lspci" as root.
