PCLOS-Gnome network manager will connect to unsecre networks, but not encrypted ones
The title pretty much sums up my whole problem. I can connect to unsecured networks, but not encrypted ones. This is what I have tried so far:
1) downloading another network manager; same results: could connect to unsecure networks, but not encrypted ones.
2) using WiFi Radar to create and edit profiles; same results as above.
3) gedit /etc/network/interfaces; but the request was rejected because the authentication protocols are not supported. (?)
4) updating drakxtools in synaptic package manager.
5) researching other similar problems on linuxforums.com and ubuntuforums.com
6) terminal command: "lspci" gives me this:

So I am pretty much at a loss. My house uses WEP HEX Encryption. I need to connect to it and not rely on the neighboring unsecure networks. Lastly, I am obviously entering the correct encryption key when I try to connect. Any help, please?
I can't tell which of the two network controllers is the wireless. If it is the one that uses the bcm43xx driver, then you need to have firmware loading for it to work.

Well, that might explain it. The driver is the first one. It's RealTek Wireless Adapter. Would the conflict of drivers be causing my issue?
If the wireless is trying to use the bcm43xx driver, then you need to have firmware installed for it to work. To do this you need the working WInXP driver, and the Linux program bcm43xx-fwcutter. The extracted firmware is then placed in the /lib/firmware folder.
I never had much luck with the bcm43xx driver. It works, but with a maximum of 11Mb/s. I have better performance using NSIDwrapper, it too makes use of the WinXP driver. I was able to reach my maximum speed of 54Mb/s with it. You need to remove the bcm43xx driver first.

And then add it to the blacklist file in /etc/modprobe.d/.
As always, the location and/or names of files/folders may be different in your distro.
I am now trying Fedora 8, with kernel 2.6.23.14-115.fc8. It has the newer b43 driver instead of the bcm43xx. That driver seems to work just as good as NDISwrapper.
