    Placed b43legacy and b43 folders in the firmware folder...

    Try one more thing. Put the firmware files directly in the /lib/firmware folder. That is what other Linux distributions do. I still think that it is looking for it in the /lib/firmware/b43legacy folder. Are the files that it is looking for even in that folder?

    Edit: You should be rebooting after moving or copying the firmware files to a different folder.
