Hi
I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop with Kubuntu 8.10. There is a Belkin F5D7010 wireless card with ndiswrapper drivers installed.

The card detects my wireless network, but when I try to connect, I cant get an IP.
When I try a static IP, KNetworkManager won't connect at all.
When I try to connect with the connection configured in /etc/network/interfaces, dhclient outputs:

I've already tried dhcpcd and pump instead of dhclient, and Wicd instead of KNetworkManager. The only diffrence is that i can connect to my network with a static IP in Wicd. But if my network is 192.168.1.0, I can enter anything in Wicd. Eg: when I say that the Ip is 165.2.112.3, it says: connected to belkin54g at 52% with IP 165.2.112.3.

Another thing; when i connect with a cable, it gets an Ip, and everything works fine.

I have a belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router (with dhcp disabled) on top of a Philips SNV6520/18 wireless router (with the wireless disabled (it broke down) and the dhcp enabled).
All the computers (except 1, with a static ip) can connect using dhcp, even or Nintendo Wii en DS can.

I hope sombody can help me, cuz i don't want back to windows

Hiya,
I'm pretty sure this card uses madwifi or ath5k instead of ndiswrapper, although ndiswrapper might work with this card, I have never tried it. Could you post the output of the commands listed in this thread please?

It worked with Ndiswrapper with my Philips router, before the wireless broke down...
(the card has a broadcom chipset, so there are broadcom drivers installed)

There is a native Linux driver called b43legacy that should automatically be loaded for this wireless. It is sometimes called by it's original name, b43xx. Since I don't see it in the lsmod output, I assume that you must have blacklisted it.

I would first recommend ditching NDISwrapper and using b43. It will require installing firmware. It looks like you have Ubuntu installed, and with a wired connection it is very simple to do. Look for the Hardware Manager section, and enable the wireless driver that it recommends. It will then download and install the firmware/driver. You first need to remove NDISwrapper, as the drivers will conflict.

This may not solve the problem, it is just something to try.

It took a while, but today I had some time, and tried madwifi, which did not work.
I followed the advice fram waterhead and removed ndiswrapper. I looked around on the internet a bit, and it seems the card should work with the b43 driver, and some addons.
the thing is, when I installed ubuntu , hardware manager asked me to install the driver. because I knew the driver alone didnt work, and ndiswrapper worked fine with this card when i tried it before, I ignored the message from hardware manager. Know. it wont come back. when i search for new drivers it says: no legacy drivers found.
Any idea how to get the driver back?

Try using apt to install it. When I installed the firmware extractor program, it automatically installed the firmware too. And I don't even have a Broadcom wireless in that PC!

I installed the driver with the b43-fwcutter, but it does exactly the same as with the ndiswrapper drivers.
Maybe the problem has something to do with my router? I'll try another network as soon as I can get one.

Make sure that the ndiswrapper module isn't loading. Check it again with the lsmod command.

I solved my problem today, and guess what. I was using the wrong WEP-key all the time :s

I'm really dumb...
But I think its weird networkmanager doesn't give a notice about it.
