Unhappy D-Link DWA-120 Wireless USB Adapter

Hi, I'm kind of new to Ubuntu and I really want to browse the internet with it.

I have the Windows XP driver for my D-Link DWA-120 Wireless USB Adapter, and I used "ndiswrapper" to install it (shown in this tutorial: "https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper"). Ubuntu says that the driver is installed, but no hardware is present even though my USB adapter is plugged in!

I've done this with Xubuntu, Ubuntu 64-Bit, Ubuntu 32-Bit and no luck!

If my system information has something to do with it, I have:

Ubuntu 8.10 32-Bit
AMD Athlon x64 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.41 GHz
2.87 GB of RAM
D-Link DWA-120 Wireless USB Adapter
Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Thanks in advance!
