g netbook connectivity prob

New g netbook. trying to connect to my XP oriented wireless network. Greenlight on netbook shows connected but no workee.

I then try to manually connect to my wireless network using the gOS routines (which are none too simple).

A friend brings his xp laptop and using the numerical code i give him he connects his laptop in a minute to my wireless network.

I am not familiar with gOS, but if it has NetworkManager, use that to connect to wireless networks. If it doesn't, install Wicd and use that.
