    Packet sniffer help needed Pls!!

    Hi!!
I have undertaken a project of developing a universal low frequency wireless packet sniffer that is capable of adapting itself to different protocols and is portable. For this project I have found the TI's CC1101 RF module suitable since it accommodates various types of modulation techniques. The packet sniffer is intended to be of passive type and will work in the sub-1 GHz frequency range. I have understood the method to detect the presence of a signal in a frequency channel and can be done using the RSSI method.
I would be glad if you could advice me on how to detect the modulation technique that is being used by a transmitter in a network so as to switch the CC1101 to that demodulation type in order to receive data.

    Anybody any ideas????
    Thank you
