You likely need the firmware for the card. I'm not very familiar with opensuse, but look for a package called iwl5000-ucode.

Novell: SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 for x86: iwl5000-ucode

Code:
dmesg | grep firmware

I was reviewing your first post, the one with the system info, and I don't see any wireless device listed. Am I missing something?

Is it possible that the wireless is turned off? Try turning it on, and see what happens.

I mean, in the output of these commands:

I didn't see a wireless device from Intel.

OK, this appears to be the wireless device:
Code:
02:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Device 4232
    Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 1201
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 5
    Memory at fdffe000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
Capabilities: [c8] Power Management version 3
Capabilities: [d0] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable-
Capabilities: [e0] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
It doesn't seem to be properly recognized. This seems to be a kernel bug, especially a Suse 11.0 kernel bug.

I suggest you update to the latest available kernel, or the latest available version of Suse.

Try a LiveCD of another distro, like Ubuntu or Fedora. Always get the latest version. See if it works in those.
