Angry Virgin wirless

hi there
im new to all this so please bear with me!!!

i have just been given a desktop computer and it runs on the linux system but i cant get my virgin broadband to work from it -yet my daughter can get her laptop to work!!! can anyone out there help me by letting me know what i have to get or do as i am stuck using an internet cafe or waiting for her to be around so i can use the computer!!

Hi Liz

I'm afraid we are going to need a bit more information as there are a lot of different flavours of Linux. Don't worry though, we will help you to figure out which one you are running

When you turn the laptop on does it go to a log in screen? If so does it say the distribution name?

Do you know how to open a terminal?
