- 11-24-2009 #2Your wireless card is a BCM4312. You need the broadcom wl driver. Most distros don't include it because it contains proprietary code.08:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g [14e4:4315] (rev 01)
Kernel driver in use: b43-pci-bridge
Kernel modules: ssb
Which distro are you using?
I think based on your kernel, it's Ubuntu. If you can get a wired internet connection briefly, go to Administration->Hardware Drivers (or Drivers Manager or something like that). It should show you an option for your card. Click Enable.
If you can't get a wired connection, post back. It's a little trickier then but not too difficult.

You'll need to download the necessary packages from a different machine, stick them on a USB drive or the like, transfer them to your Ubuntu box and install.
This thread lists the required packages, 4th post down.

Now we check if it is loading the driver and show a wireless interface.
What is the output of(Normally you do not need to run iwconfig with sudo, ie, administrative privileges to query for the ssid and some other stuff, but there is a problem with the wl driver. iwconfig will still tell you if there is an wireless interface, but little other info.)Code:lsmod sudo iwconfig
