No Wireless network found
I guess Ubuntu on my laptop is not able to detect my wireless netwrok adapter. I have to post this thread booting Vista. I have tried reading some threads and downloaded the b43-fwcutter-011.tar.bz2 and -wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2 firmware from vista in a folder in vista and then tried to install in ubuntu using terminal. followed some steps and commands as instructed in one most appealing linux thread but no go. i am not able to get the build-essential may coz no internet in ubuntu . I tried this command
sudo apt-get install build-essential
cd b43-fwcutter-011
make
cd ..
export FIRMWARE_INSTALL_DIR="/lib/firmware"
tar xjf broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0.tar.bz2
cd broadcom-wl-4.80.53.0/kmod
../../b43-fwcutter-011/b43-fwcutter -w "$FIRMWARE_INSTALL_DIR" wl_apsta.o
Still no go after trying the above stuff
i am fairly a beginner in linux and Ubuntu but trying to try new and different stuff. also Ubuntu is far better than vista..just the wireless problem for now...
Bluetooth is working fine. i am able to send and receive files.
Any help is highly appreciated to fix my wireless. thanks
some information about the system i obatined refeering to sticky notes.

what version of ubuntu are you using? I have read that restricted drivers should detect this wireless card starting with 9.04 and make for an easy install.

its ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386

did you check to see if it was detected by the restricted drivers manager?
system->administration->hardware drivers

If you can get a wired connection for a couple minutes, do
Or use Ubuntu's Drivers Manager.Code:sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source
If you cannot, you'll need to download the necessary packages, put em on an external drive or flash drive, and transfer them to your Ubuntu install.
See this thread for download links. 4th post down.
It's also possible the ssb module will interfere and need to be blacklisted. See last post here.

worked?
Hey there, I'm having a problem with the same card, same os, same kernel etc. However I'm getting a kernel panic (hard crash) and the bcmwl-kernel-source install doesn't fix my problem. Did this fix yours? Does anybody have any insight on getting this working? I've been googling for 2 days now and haven't found anything to work. I'm not sure that that package covers the 4328 chipset. Although it the wl driver provided bed HW Manager in jaunty worked fine.
