Wireless on CentOS 5 Please Help

    Hello Everybody,

I just installed CentOS and is trying to make wireless work. May I request for some help regarding this concern?

By the way, I'm not sure why lsmod command does not exist according to the error report. I hope somebody can explain to me what's happening?

    Thanks in advance!

    hi reed9,

It was going smoothly till I hit this bump:

    Code:
    [jun@localhost ~]$ make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build/ M=`pwd`
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5xen/build/: No such file or directory. Stop.
    [jun@localhost ~]$
    Not sure what's happening. Thanks!

Well, build appears to be there. Did you double check that you entered the command correctly?

    Hi!

Took quite a while since I was updating and was kinda hoping that an update would make a difference. Same results.

I think I will just start again from the first step just to make sure I am doing it right Will get back.

I thought it was going to be short and sweet . Man! This is more complicated than Fedora, in my opinion. Please help me analyze. Would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

I would say the trouble is because your kernel headers do not match your current kernel. The headers that you have installed are thus:

    kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.11.1.el5.i386

The uname -r command seems to bring up this:

    2.6.18-164.11.1.el5xen

You are running a xen kernel. Try installing the headers, specifying the version.
    Code:
    yum install kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.11.1.el5xen
If you are not going to run virtualization, you can just install a regular kernel.
Please do not send Private Messages to me with requests for help. I will not reply.

    Ohhhhh..... I see. Thanks Paul!

Actually I was planning to install VirtualBox for it to host several OSes. So I would be installing this: yum install kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.11.1.el5xen instead.
