OK, thanks. That isn't keeping the module from loading.
Now that the module is loaded, check the output of this command for the wireless.
If the wireless is now listed, you should be able to connect to a wireless network. Use NetworkManager for this. You can access it by using the icon in the task bar, usually next to the Date/Time.Code:iwconfig

The only icon that is in task bar is the network with wire, which is the one I'm using now.
luis@luis-desktop:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
pan0 no wireless extensions.
luis@luis-desktop:~$
- 02-01-2010 #35
You would click on the wired icon, it will show any other available networks.
If iwconfig isn't showing a wireless connection, NetworkManager won't either. I trust that you didn't reboot again, so try running this command.
That still may not work. You must have done something when you installed ndiswrapper that is keeping this from working.Code:sudo if up wlan0
I would at least try Ubuntu 9.10, to see if the wireless works. You can just boot it in Live mode, without actually installing it.
I don't know if there is anything more that I can do for this. Maybe reed9 has something up his sleeve, if he is still following this thread.Paul

But the problem is that I've all ready try the 9.10 and don't recognize it and I thought if I made the install and run different commands will work :s
I read in a forum with this link and they say that with madwifi of the driver will work. Althoght I don't know how to install and make it run:
Atheros Communications, Atheros, Wireless, WLAN, Wireless LAN, 2.4-GHz, 5-GHz, 2.4/5-GHz, 802.11a/b/g, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11, Radio-on-Chip, Networking, Mobile, Semiconductor, System Solutions
Browse MADWIFI Files on SourceForge.net
luis@luis-desktop:~$ sudo if up wlan0
[sudo] password for luis:
sudo: if: command not found
luis@luis-desktop:~$
- 02-01-2010 #37
Look at the date of your link, 2003! Also, the link to madwifi has the newest driver at 2008. I can tell you that they won't work on a newer kernel. The ath5k is reported to work on your card [168c:0013] (rev 01). You could download the latest drivers and install them, but that is not a task for a newbie. That is why I said to use the latest version of Ubuntu, it has the latest drivers in it.
If you want to try the madwifi driver go to this site and download the snapshot:
madwifi-project.org - Trac
This will have to be compiled, just like the previous drivers I linked to.
The command I gave you had a typo. there is no space between if and up.
But it most likely won't work.Code:sudo ifup wlan0

I just thought of something.
Does your PC have switch to turn the wireless on/off? Make sure that it is on.Paul

Another thing. In the past, when I used madwifi for my Atheros card, I had to use a special branch of it. It is called madwifi-hal, and can be found her:
Revision 4119: /madwifi/branches
There is no package that you can download, so you must pull it from the repository using Subversion (SVN).

You wrote "Does your PC have switch to turn the wireless on/off? Make sure that it is on". How can I do that?
With the thing of madwifi, like you said, is better to forget it
I was thinking and it's a possible that windows is blocking the access to the wireless?
Because if that's possible, I can try to uninstall all and install frist ubuntu and then the windows xp. The only problem is that the version of windows I've got is the home edition and to install I don't know if he deletes everything what is in the hard disc.....
