    Can't connect to wireless networks

Hello, I can't seem to connect to any password-less network with my notebook, right now I have installed Fedora 14 and have also tried with Ubuntu 10.04 livecd. I can connect on windows.

This is the output of dmesg, uname -r, etc

    pastebin-com/YMtF0W3v

Also whenever I try to connect with gnome-network-manager or wicd I get this from dmesg
    Code:
    [ 215.691990] wlan0: direct probe to 00:1e:e3:96:b4:8a (try 1)
    [ 215.892080] wlan0: direct probe to 00:1e:e3:96:b4:8a (try 2)
    [ 216.092081] wlan0: direct probe to 00:1e:e3:96:b4:8a (try 3)
    [ 216.292081] wlan0: direct probe to 00:1e:e3:96:b4:8a timed out
    Awaiting for your reply, thanks.

Your cut and paste did not work on your dmesg, uname -r, etc. Also, can you paste a copy of your ifconfig and the lspci?

    Thanks,

    Mongui,

Everything seems to be correct. Do you have dhclient installed? If wicd continues to fail to get an ip address, you should ensure that you have dhclient installed. Can you also run iwlist and copy the output here please?

    Thanks,

Additionally, it looks like the ESSID "ict2" is running on the same channel. I would do two things. First, I would change the channel of my WAP. Secondly, I start wicd and make sure my configuration is correct. If you aren't familiar with wicd, here is a tutorial:

    go2linux.org/wicd-installation-configuration-manage-wifi-wired

Let me know if I can do anything else to help.

It's ok man, you tried, actually idk who is the owner of "ict2", and the one Im connecting to its my neightbour's that borrows it to me while im on holidays.
I think it's not so much wicd since I can't connect on gnome-network-manager either but im cluless.

    Cheers.
