    Firmware missing for wireless connection

    Hello,

I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook remix on my Dell Inspiron Mini 10. Now it says that the firmware is missing for my wireless connection.

I've searched on the net but I'm new to Linux and I didn't found any solution.
    I've tried this site : [curl]https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx[/curl]

It appears I have the BCM4312 and than I tried the other things they said but when I tried to active the driver in Aditional Hardware Drivers I got an error.

Can anyone please tell me what to do so I can get wireless access ?

Why didn't it work? You should have found the firmware to download for your device. Did you not find it?

If you have a wired connection install the firmware with
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter
Bear in mind support for the bcm4312 with this driver is only partial and you need to enable a couple of driver options as well
    Code:
    echo "options b43 pio=1 qos=0" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
Or you can use the broadcom sta wl driver. This might be easier if you have no internet without wireless as well, as the necessary software is on the Ubuntu installation disc.
