Ok. So iwconfig now shows a wlan0, but it's giving you the "doesn't support scanning" message now, right?

    First thing to try
    Code:
    sudo ifconfig wlan0 up
then assuming no errors try to scan again
    Code:
    sudo iwlist wlan0 scan
Failing that, redirect the output of dmesg to a text file and post here. It'll be long.
    Code:
    dmesg >> dmesg.txt

Don't know why it didn't occur to me to check this. Unless you can find a 64 bit Windows driver, you're out of luck using 64 bit linux. You'd need to reinstall the 32 bit version to use these drivers otherwise.

I did some poking around and found this on the Netgear site: h-t-t-p-://kb.netgear.c-o-m/app/answers/detail/a_id/2731/kw/2.1.0.26]Which NETGEAR adapters have Vista 64-bit support?

Shows that there is a 64-bit version... I guess it's bundled within the latest release?

Sorry - still can't post URLs.......

It almost sounds as if installing 32-bit is going to be easier?!? Do I just go back to my Win install, download the 32-bit Ubuntu and start over??

OK I *think* I have found the drivers...

One called netathrxusb.inf and the other is called netathrusb.inf. There are also *.sys and *.cat files too but I believe that only the *.inf are needed?

It's been a long time since I've used ndiswrapper, but I think you just need the .inf file.

Reed9, these are some nice instructions. It is really nice of you to be so patient. If I ever run into a problem that I hope to find someone as helpful as you have been.
