    Question Suse 11.3 wireless network card doe not communicate with router

    Upgraded to Suse 11.3 and wireless card stopped communicating with router.
    With NetworkManager I can see my router and my neighbors routers but can't ping 192.168.0.1 (i.e. my router's address)

    In trying various things I have installed original windows driver using ndiswrapper and modprobe.

    Other PCs in home can communicate with router without any problem.

    Here are few other details.

    BTW, I forgot to mention in my first post, this issue is occurring with my external (removable) USB wireless adapter.

    This usb card is seen in the output of 'lsusb'
    Bus 002 Device 002: ID 077b:2219 Linksys WUSB11 V2.6 802.11b Adapter

    Any idea?

    Everything looks good to me....you should be able to open network manager and create a new wireless connection using wlan0 as the device.

    I see in this output that wlan0 card is trying to authenticate with router, and the mac address it is trying to use matches with my router's mac address EXCEPT last digit. My router's mac address ends with d9 but somehow this card is trying to authenticate with mac address ending with d8. Don't understand that.

    Also, there is no authentication on the router. I have mac filter on and card's mac address, is in the allowed list. Just to make sure there should be no problem whatsoever, I have removed the authentication, filtering etc. etc but still no luck.

    Also, were you telling me to remove ndiswrapper or you were asking if I had removed it because you did not see something in the output?
    I have not executed any command that will remove the ndiswrapper

    I was just asking if you have removed it or not. It can cause interference with other drivers. Some ideas to try:
    I think you might try rebooting the router, see if that changes anything.
    Are you sure about the MAC address being correct/wrong? That baffles me.
    Are you using MAC address filtering? If yes, try turning it off for just a few minutes and see if that helps.
    If this is a Laptop, try moving to a different room, closer to the access point.
    I'm not sure if your card is using power management or not but you can try turning it off with
    Code:
    iwconfig wlan0 power off
    EDIT: from your first post:

    So, we can probably disregard that one.
    You can check in /var/log/NetworkManager for errors also, I *think*.
    It looks like you aren't using encryption. What is the name of your access point? Is it being found?

    Booted router and machine(Desktop) couple of times. No luck.
    Mac address is not the issue as I was looking at the one written on the sticker on the bottom of router which is WAN mac addres (d9)
    The Lan MAC address does end with d8. So MAC address is not the issue.

    Removed all filtering, authentication but still no luck.

    Access point name is "VirkarHome" and we do see it in the iwlist scan
