wireless USB not connecting
I just bought a Patriot wireless N usb adapter. It sees my G router and identifies it by the correct name, identifies that it uses WPA2 personal elncryption, and asks for my password, but then endlessly tries to connect. Periodically it wil ask for the password again. The correct driver rtl8188cu is loading, but I don't have something set right.
Thanks for the help. I know it is something simple I am overlooking, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I don't remember exactly what distro you are running , maybe Lubuntu or Xubuntu?

I'm distro hopping at the moment, but get the same results with all current distro's. The info supplied above was using Lubuntu. The right driver is loaded, it sees my network and asks for the wpa key, then tries to load for awhile before asking for the key again. I think I have something not right in the setup, but it is the same as for my wireless G usb adapter that works fine. This is the first N adapter that I have tried to use, so is there something different about setting up an N adapter? Am using the default *buntu nework connections ap.

Shot in the dark here.
Wondering if your router name begins with a Capital Letter. I have read where NetWork Manager in Ubuntu has fits with that.Code:sudo iwlist scan
I've also read in Ubuntu forums for that chip
My wireless router name is all lower case letters. I use wpa2-psk encrypton on my wireless router. But I run a different wireless usb internally on this M&A Companion Netbook. than you do. This netbook does not have a wireless pci card.Code:Change the encryption mode to pure WPA2-AES if possible.

Thanks for the info roky. I'm away from my computer, so will have to try it tomorrow night to see if I can get it working. Will let you know. In the meantime, my ralink 802.11 g is working for my primary computer. I need the N to replace it so I can move it to the grandkids computer.

Router name is all lower case. Rt8192cu driver is installed, and sees network, just wont connect (keeps asking for WPA2 authentication). Best I can figure out, it is working, and sees the network, tries to connect, but the authentication isn't working.
