wifi problems hp compaq nx6325
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 today. I installed it a few months ago without incident on another computer, but I've run into a wall here. The wifi button does not respond, but the light is on. When I click on my connections I seem to only have a choice for wired. Here is what I believe to be the information you need. Let me know if you need more.

When I tried to pull the the dmesg information I got what seemed excessive and possibly repeating information. I could not access all the messages that was spawned. I can post the information I was able to access if you need it. Also, it may be pertinent: under additional drivers I have Broadcom STA wireless driver it is activated and says it is currently in use. Where do I go from here? Thanks so much!Code:ifconfig -a eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:17:08:3f:14:1d inet addr:192.168.1.108 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::217:8ff:fe3f:141d/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:31747 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:29903 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:27713536 (27.7 MB) TX bytes:6305177 (6.3 MB) Interrupt:23 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:3116 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:3116 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:386652 (386.6 KB) TX bytes:386652 (386.6 KB)

have you tried to set the security settings manually? All you need to do is go to the properties of your wireless network adapter configure the same security options as the Access Point. I am no expert but the only other thing I can think of is to make sure eth0 is set to get setting dynamically if access point provides DHCP services. If there are no DHCP services make sure that you are on the same logical network.

Check manual settings. I think its settings are not correct.

Here's your wireless card:
Broadcom typically needs to have firmware instaled after the fact.Code:30:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11a/b/g [14e4:4312] (rev 01) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Broadcom 802.11a/b/g WLAN [103c:1360] Kernel modules: wl, ssb
Try this:
Let the installer run. Then:Code:sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer
Then try to connect.Code:sudo modprobe b43
