    Raspberry Pi and AWUS036H wireless card


    Have been working at this for some 5 days now and now at least the Pi boots up w/o Ethernet and the AW blinks green for several minutes and i can see that it has been assigned an IP through my home router by opening my PCLinuxOS FireFox browser. However after several minutes the AW goes dark and i have to connect the Ethernet cable to obtain access. The card itself is an AWUS036H.

    i tried the .txt file with the commands, but my Term reports that the " files is busy". - very informative... So we are going to try and post the results of each command. i'm doing this on the Pi itself since i can't figure out out to copy/paste bet. the Pi and my home compu (we using ssh and vinagre).

    Stmbling Block for me is

    search gateway.huawei.net
    Because I associate huawei with Phones.

    So, my go to for Debian just for double checking stuff is

    should maybe shed some light on that message. Google that for raspian
    and maybe you will get lucky. Might want to throw huawei into the google search term also. Good Luck with it.

    Nuts, i just hit the Reply to Thread, after filling out the box.

    Thanks for replying. The huawei is my home router's brand name.

    i was also worried about the RF-kill. i couldn't get it to work on the Pi until i figured out that i wasn't installed - duh. So i rousted up Synaptic, updated and also installed rfkill. i had to use this program on a lappy a while back where hardware block meant referred to the physical button on the lappy. Here there is no hardware button on the AW - i even tried squeezing it - but the little green light stays on.

    i've also been Goo but haven't found anything yet although i've now got a page with the "problem + AW" so we'll see if there's anything available.

    Update. Well, after much Gooing it looks like we have conquered our rfkill problem (fingers crossed).

    Here, then, is the most recent challenge...
