I just installed and configured this card for the first time with ndiswrapper on Slackware 11 yesterday and have been very pleased with its performance so far. If you follow the directions, it's easy to get it up and running. Search DWL-520 here for more. Make sure you match up the correct version as there are several. Here is the how-to. Good Luck.

I see you've used ndiswrapper. Does this mean you have a DWL-G520 card that does *not* include an Atheros chipset? If it did, you'd've used madwifi. Is this correct? I'm still learning more about this particular card and its role in my linux box before I buy it.

Here is what /sbin/lspci returns for my device...
As you can see, it's listed as Atheros but it works extremely well with Ndiswrapper and the WinXP driver that came on the cd in the box.Code:00:11.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

In the last six weeks or so since I began using this device I've used both and really see very little difference in performance. If forced to make a choice though, I'd have to say MADWifi only because it is specific to the Atheros chipset.
- 12-07-2006 #8thanks. i thought the same thing.madwifi . . . specific to the Atheros chipset.
