    Wireless with Dapper and Edgy

I am here reading this thread because I am having issues with getting my Linksys Wireless G card to work on my desktop pc with Kubuntu Edgy. The system and Wireless Assistant detect that card (wlan0) , and my wireless network, it just won't connect. I still don't understand what 'wmaster0' is, hardware / physical wise in my computer. This is a new desktop... the old one, I remember I ran the Dapper live cd, and BAM! it connected to the internet, live mode!
Now, I have Kubuntu Edgy installed on my laptop (which I'm using right now) and have a removable Linksys Wireless B card installed, and that all works fine from day one of install of Edgy. And there's no 'wmaster0' detected. Again, what is that! I also notice too, that, Wireless Assistant on the laptop detects Channel 6 in my wireless network... it says, ESSID : Channel : Link Quality, etc. But on the desktop, Wireless Assistant shows, ESSID : FREQ (HZ) ... not channel. I don't get that.
My main point here is, yeah, it's all great and fine to downgrade to Edgy so the wireless will work... but like that Longhorn restaurant commercial, WHY would I do that? I'm looking to move forward and resolve that issue.
    Any help would be great.

I don't understand your comment about downgrading to edgy, what is there above edgy?

please post the outputs of the commands "iwconfig"and "lspci", so I can see what chipset you are using...
