I m using RHEL4 update4(kernel-2.6.9- and I tried to install ndiswrapper-1.2-2.i586.It gives me a fatal error that module ndiswrapper not found when modprobe ndiswrapper is given. But it is able to windows install the driver and shows driver present. How can i load the ndiswrapper with modprobe.

I also downloaded the latest version of ndiswrapper 1.34 which gives me errors when i give "make"
    leaving directory........

    and so on

    Can anyone guide me?
    Thanks in advance.

with the pre-compiled module, does ndiswrapper -l return something like hardware present + driver present?

If you really want to compile ndiswrapper, make sure you have the following package installed:
    1. kernel-sources/kernel-headers
    2. gcc

I had the same problem with ndiswrapper with suse 10.0, anyway do what AlexK tells u and additionally try checking if the module is already loaded my

    #lsmod | grep ndiswrapper

  4. $spacer_open

    Thanx for the reply.
I reinstalled the entire system and set up the wlan0.
Now i have a different problem.
wlan0 is not able to fetch the ipadd from dhcp. So i manually added the ipadd and subnetmask.I m trying to share files from my linux box to a windows laptop. windows machine sees the linux box connection and assigns the ipaddress to itself.I am also able to see from iwlist scanning like below one.I m not able to ping the windows laptop.
I dont know what i missed. Can u pls help me in proceeding from here?

I resolved this problem by installing the driver from serialmonkey for ralink insted of ndiswrapper and dlink drivers from the manufacturer.
