How do i get my wireless card to be in monitor mode. I tried using
#iwconfig ath0 mode monitor
but i get an error
so i used
#wlanconfig ath0 create ...

How do i get my wireless card to be in monitor mode. I tried using
#iwconfig ath0 mode monitor
but i get an error
so i used
#wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode monitor
this makes root shell freeze for some reason. Does anyone know how I can get my atheros based wlan card in monitor mode using knoppix?

never mind I fixed the problem. Instead of using ath0, I used ath1.
#wlanconfig ath1 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode monitor

So did you get your atheros chipset working?

What distro? What card? How are you trying to install it?
