iwconfig problems

I installed Wireless tools but when I type in:
[root@manor Proj]# iwconfig
bash: iwconfig: command not found
I receive a bash error.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please be as detailed as possible because I am extremely new to Linux.
Thanks

2 things first what distro are you on and were you root when you typed in the command. if not you have to type /sbin/iwconfig because the path is obscured if not root.

Please also post method of installation of wireless tools. Was it a tarball, rpm? Might have not installed correctly. Give steps.
