I have a Belkin wiresless router 802.11g, and had to get someone to set it up for me as I'm not very computer literate. Now, a month later, the Belkin USB thing doesn't seem to be recognised so it doesn't work.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled my Belkin USB adaptor software, but the USB just doesn't work. The green flash doesn't even come on and the little icon at the bottom right hand page doesn't appear like it used to.
When I try to install the USB under "add hardware" it says "the device cannot start (code 10)."
To be honest, I don't know what I'm doing, but any simple tips I could follow would be much appreciated.

    hi Falcifer,

That output won't post.Everytime I try I get the 'page cannot be found' message. Something in the code must be interfering with the site but if you like I'll try to e-mail it to you. What's your e-mail address?

Some more info would be a help here.
I'm not much more knowledgeable about anything, other than going through the steps that I took to get my adapter working.

But if you post your Linux distro, kernel version, and what software you've onstalled.
Judging from your post here, it seem like you're using Windows?
If this is the case, then you should find a Windows forum.

This is for Linux distributions, which are different operating systems from Linux.

A quick Google search for your error gave this site. My advice would be to uninstall everything, and follow the instructions that came with the adaptor. Otherwise, get your friend to help you again.

    Hi Tim.

On a live Knoppix 5.1.1 I've gotten it working but I can't install that distro to HD, seems to have a bug (I posted the problem in the Knoppix forum but no replies yet). At the moment, I've upgraded the laptop to the latest SuSe and am stuck on an error compiling the new ndiswrapper, that is the key to getting this to work, only the latest release of ndiswrapper will do the job (that's what Knoppix 5.1.1 has pre-installed) so I need to get this fully installed and then I can try Falcifer's instructions after that. I e-mailed some error output I last got to him 'cause it won't post on this site for some reason.

    H Falcifer,

Got your message I've installed GCC but now there's a new problem, I get an assembler message, gcc internal error(listed as segmentation fault and it tells me to submit a full bug report (the actual output won't post). I can e-mail you the output if you like but if it is a bug, there's not a whole lot I can do.

When exactly do you get the fault? When you try to do the "make"?

And you're right, I think. There's not much that can be done. I wouldn't know where to start with something like that.

I'm sorry that it didn't work.

I navigated back to the ndiswrapper folder and typed 'make' and that's when I got that message, it clearly listed in the text to submit a full bug report, so I think for the moment that's that. But I can use the device on the live Knoppix 5.1.1 disk, pity that won't install to the hard drive but as I have another Linux system on my laptop (Kanotix) in which ndiswrapper doesn't work either, I can replace it when I find an installable distro that does the job. Until then I'll keep an eye on this thread, if anyone else out there want's to post and offer any suggestions, feel free.

    Thanks for all the help.
