Problem with Linksys WMP54GS and Suse 10.1

Greetings,

I am having trouble getting a Wireless card to work on Suse Linux
10.1. The card is a Linksys WMP54GS (PCI). I found instructions on
the net utilizing ndiswrapper and the driver that comes with the card.
I performed the instructions and it actually worked fine. I then
powered down the machine, moved it, and brought it back up. I
couldn't get the network to work. I then moved it back to the
original location (2 feet away from the router) but I still can't seem
to get it working anymore. I have been trying for about 8 hours! I
haven't changed any setting on the router (since it works fine with
all my other computers) but have been messing with my Linux box.

I am trying to link with a LinkSys WRT54GS Router.

Here is where I am now;

Code:
# ifconfig

wlan0     Link encap;Ethernet  HWaddr 00;18;F8;29;CC;7E
          inet6 addr; fe80;;218;f8ff;fe29;cc7e/64 Scope;Link

Code:
# iwlist wlan0 scan

                    ESSID;"a77hj4dd"

                    Extra;atim=0
I am using 64 bit WEP encryption but I tried disabling encryption (on
all ends) and it didn't make a difference. When it was working I was
using this encryption.

One thing I noticed is that if I set;

Code:
# iwconfig wlan0 essid a77hj4dd
# iwconfig wlan0
wlan0     IEEE 802.11g  ESSID;off/any  Nickname;"family"
          Mode;Managed  Frequency;2.437 GHz  Access Point; Not-Associated
          Bit Rate=54 Mb/s   Tx-Power;25 dBm
          RTS thr=2347 B   Fragment thr=2346 B
          Encryption key;0F84-36DC-EC   Security mode;open
          Power Management;off
          Link Quality;0  Signal level;0  Noise level;0
          Rx invalid nwid;0 Rx invalid crypt;0 Rx invalid frag;0
          Tx excessive retries;0  Invalid misc;0   Missed beacon;0
The essid doesn't stick. If I try to set the AP it doesn't stick either.

Since the scan works, it seems clear to me that the card and driver
are working. Also, since I tried with and without encryption, and the
fact that I am sure of the encryption settings, that is not my
problem. I just can't seem to get it to link. I have rebooted many,
many times.

I have no idea what else to do. Lacking a solution I have no choice
but to install Windows. Please help.

Thanks.
