VPN HowTo

I have a probably easy problem but I cannot find a proper solution.
My friend has a VPN account to the wireless provider with the following parameters: connection IP, username and password. How could I set up properly the connection with VPN Client GUI ? There are simply too many parameters, like group password wich he hasn't. This network is probably Microsoft based, but I'm not sure. Thanks!

Is it a Cisco VPN? If it is, have your friend export a profile and you can use that. I'm not sure if other VPN types use profiles.

There are a number of GUI's for using the VPN. I just use Cisco's VPN client which is command line.
