Help configuring wifi on PCLinuxOS
I just installed PCLinuxOS. I've been trying to set everything up, and wasn't able to configure the internet with the installation, so I'm trying to do it now. I'm using a D-Link WUA-1340 (USB) to connect. Here's the problem...
In the Network Center it is showing 'Ralink 802.11 bg WLAN' as the network. I went through the control center to set up the interface, and everything seemed to work fine. It recognizes that there is a network, it recognizes the USB device, and for the moment it is set up without encryption, although I've tried using Open WEP encryption as well. After the interface wizard finishes, it shows up in the network center. Under Operating Mode it shows 'managed'. I can't seem to switch the operating mode to anything else (I thought setting it to ad-hoc might do something). The signal strength is also showing up really strong (all the bars are lit up green). There is a circular arrow in a button to the left of the SSID.
When I hit Monitor it says not connected, so I hit Connect wifi. After 18 seconds, it says: Connection failed. Verify your configuration in the Mandriva Linux Control Center.
When I connect directly to the internet under the other Network Interface ('Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet') the connection works fine and I can access the internet.
I'm lost. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks. I'm also new to Linux, so I'm not too familiar with using the console, but I can follow instructions!
