Installing Apps when Fedora booted from USB

Hey, im new to this forum so thanks to you guys for your help.

i am currently trying out linux as a alternative to windows and am currently booting fedora 10 from a usb stick (windows xp on main partition). i am wondering is it possible to install applications to this OS? where are the files stored? on the usb or on the windows partition? does this version of fedora function just as it would if installed to hardrive?

also im a trying to get kismet up and running on Fedora, but have no idea how to install it and cannot find any help online, can anyone point me in the right direction....thanks!!!

Whenever you run a live cd everything is installed on the RAM and is temporary (reboot will make you lose it). For kismit, assuming you have internet connection on the live USB:

Did you create Data Persistant Live USB stick?
Post the output of fdisk -l command here.
