Hey, I just switched from slackware to ubuntu because my sound card refused to work with slack. So far the sound is working on ubuntu, but ndiswrapper is not.
I installed the old and new ndiswrapper, neither worked, (although both installed at same time). The ndiswrapper-1.9 couldn't find the module. and when i entered ndiswrapper -l it came up with this
net8185: driver installed
nothing else!! I thought there was supposed to be something about the hardware being there.
Also, when i checked ndiswrapper -v i got
utils Error: wrong version etc.
I just reinstalled ubuntu, and I'm waiting to see what I can do about this.
thanks in advance
Hiya vfronda ,
When you saw this msg "net8185: driver installed" it should been ready to go. You might have to configure it though(WEP, SSID, Channel). Do you remember how you got it to do that?
When i set this up in slackware, all i did was install ndiswrapper and then use
ndiswrapper -i drivername.inf
than ndiswrapper -m
than it magically worked on the next boot up
it also showed when i put in ndiswrapper -l: (in slackware)
net8185 : driver installed, hardware present
where can i go to configure this.
Well, you could use the command line, of course and I'm sure Slackware has a GUI network tool but I wouldn't know the name of it.
figured it out, i was using the wrong driver. thanks for the help
