Hello,
I'm on a Inspiron 1525 with Vista, Fedora 9, and a Linksys WUSB54Gv4 USB network adaptor. My concern is that Linux is unable to conect to any networks, But I can conect with Vista no problem so I know the card is working and I am in range of the router.
On a side note I have no idea what to do with linux, today is my first day with this OS.
I need somebody to hold my hand to set this up I am a little lost in this new world, :rolleyes:

It will ask that you post the output of a few terminal commands, in this thread. This is done to determine the exact chips that the device is using, and then the drivers that those chips use.

I have the drivers but they are on my windows parition and I can't access them from the linux OS
I did all my homework on the drivers a few days ago =) I just have no idea how to move them over
When I open the wireless manager in Linux I can view avaible netowrks and so on but when I try to connect it fails with a error message saying "It disconnected"

You appear to have two wireless devices. There is a built-in or PCI device;

The PCI wireless should work. All you need to do is download the card firmware, and install it in the /lib/firmware folder. The firmware can be downloaded here:Code:Bus 002 Device 002: ID 13b1:000d Linksys WUSB54G Wireless Adapter

Unpack it, and put the file iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode in the /lib/firmware folder (as root). That wireless should now work, may have to reboot to get it to work the first time.
The USB wireless seems to use the rt2x00 driver, but it is hard to tell. That is the reason I need the lsmod output. Try it again using the full path:

now when you say install just copy and paste the driver to that folder /lib/firmware folder?
as for the usb one I wish to use it for aircrack would like to use the drivers that soupport it.
Yes, the downloaded file is a compressed package that contains the firmware file (iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode) and two text documents. Copy the iwlwifi-3945-1.ucode file to the /lib/firmware folder.
This is all assuming that the Linux driver is loading. The lsmod output will give us that info. If it still won't work, try running it as root.
I found the driver I wish to install but its umcompiled I am going to try again to get it to work.

The driver that you linked to seems to be based on the ipw3945 driver. The ipw3945 driver is older, and has been replaced with the iwl3945.Code:Module Size Used by
