Newbie needs wireless help

Can you click on the network icon in the lower right side of your taskbar? I think you have all drivers, you just need to set up the connection.

Well, I tried that, but there is some configuration I dont understand. But I managed to get connected(atleast the system tells me I am connected) but I cant get online. It says connected, 0%. Not sure why it doesent work.

Well, you could try opening a terminal window in mint and try these commands, post back and errors or output please.

Do you know if you use WPA or WEP for password security?

Gonna try out those commands as soon I get back in Mint:)
And thanx for trying to help me.
Upon further inspection it looks like I can connect to the network, but have 0% signal strength or something.
And it finds other networks i the area with better signal strength..wierd. Do I need to setup something in the dsl tab?
Oh and the password security is wpa-personal.

Some more info.
I have now tried all possible combos in the wireless config tab. I only get "connected" in ad-hoc mode, not infrastructure.
I named the SSID "default" because that is the name of the network I'm trying to connect to and that is what it is named when I look into the properties when in Win7.
In the IPv4 tab it must be set to either "link-local only" or "shared to other computers", and in the IPv6 tab it must be set to "ignore".

I tried the commands you supplied and when trying the first one "sudo ifconfig wlan0 up" I only got something like "password for erlend", and this is what I got from the second one:

The network it found there "lienett" I am not familiar with, but it is one of the other networks that shows up when clicking the network icon next to the clock.

Check your router settings and make sure your access point isn't hidden. It must be set to broadcast.

How do I check that? i thought everything was ok since it works on both mine and my wife's Win7.

Edit/ I found the web configuration and by the looks of it, under advanced-performance it is set to SSID broadcast-enabled.
it's a d-link I use.

Do you have a wired connection available? I would try downloading WICD and use that, but you need internet access. I'm kinda bothered by the fact that it won't see your access point.

Just to let u guys know, I got it working now. Dunno how, but it suddenly decided to work for some reason lol.
