Ubuntu 9.04 not connecting to wireless

Can anyone help a noob with getting my gateway laptop to access wireless internet? The wired internet is working fine, but Ubuntu 9.04 is not recognizing any wireless card or router. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is your card and sadly, it isn't well supported. You should be able to get it working with ndiswrapper.

This post here describes how to get the card working in Ubuntu.

If you do not have a CD with the driver on it, you can get it from the Netgear website, according to my googling. You may have a little difficulty extracting the driver from the exe file. I assume this is just a self-extracting zip. You can try right clicking and seeing if there is an option to extract, but I don't think there will be. You can try from the command line

Or lastly, you can run the setup in wine to get to the driver.
