Wireless Card Woes
I have read every thread I can find on the steps to installing a wireless network card in a laptop but none seems to fit my situation. I have installed Debian release 2.6.22-22-686 on a Compaq Evo N600c. I found a Dynex DX-WGNBC wireless card at Best Buy on clearance and plugged it in hoping it would be recognized and installed "automatically". No luck! Here is the output from lspci:
04:00.0 Ethernet Controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR50056 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
The output from iwconfig:
lo no wireless extensions
eth0 no wireless extensions
I'm lost as to where to go from here. I would really appreciate any help!!
You might want to look into ndiswrapper..
Just get the windows Drivers.
Wrap them with ndiswrapper.
You 'd better check madwifi which specializes in atheros chips.
Madwifi did the trick! I have my new card set up and working great! Thanks for the help!!
