wireless in a hotel
I travel with two hard drives. The first is a company provide Windows system, and the second is a personal hdd with Suse 10.2 loaded. The ibm t40 laptop has an atheros based wireless pcmcia card.
At home, I have the wireless card working with both systems.
On the road, I have run into trouble using the wireless card with linux. I am currently sitting in a hotel and the windows works just as it should.
When I try to use the linux system, the wireless card can see the hotel's network, however when I try to log on, it times out and never connects.
?? Can any one offer any help ??
check if the network you want to logon to is present in
iwlist <interface> s
if it is present and it it is WPA enabled, then you have to run wpa_supplicant
to authenticate you with the AP.
I tried the command and it came back "interface doesn't support scanning"
I need to say that this is supposed to be an open access network that once you establish the connection, when you start your browser, their log on screen comes up automatically.
Here is some information I got off the ipconfig status on my windows hdd:

IP Address: 192.168.2.102
