Wireless Internet on Ubuntu not working

Hi,

I just downloaded Ubuntu yesterday, so i could Dual boot it with Vista. Since there is only Windows Drivers for my Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Internet Adapter, so i have to use ndiswrapper, ndisgtk and wicd. The installation of the drivers with ndisgtk seems to go fine, and it isn't untll i open wicd, my problem occurs. Wicd can't seem to find my router. It's not my router, because i'm using it right now (although on Vista), so it's probably something wrong with either the driver installation or wicd (i doubt it).
Any help would really be appreciated.

I'm not sure who told you that there are no Linux drivers for your card, but they were wrong. You would use the MadWifi driver, which can be added to Ubuntu by installing the linux-restricted-modules package. You then would enable the driver by starting the Hardware Drivers Manager from the menu. There is also an new driver for your card called ath5k. It may even be loading automatically. Run this command and see if it is in the list.

I don't know what wicd is, as I never needed it for my wireless connections.

Thanks for the help. I installed the linux-restricted-modules package, and opened the Hardware Drivers Manager, although it seems to be the same as before, and i still can't get a connection.

Maybe it's already loading it. Post the output of this command

EDIT: You don't need to install wicd to use wireless. The already installed NetworkManager works great with wireless.

First, you have to have the linux-restricted-modules package installed. Check in the Synaptic Package Manger for it.

Then run this command:

sudo modprobe ath_pci

This is assuming it's a PCI device. Now run lsmod again and look for ath_pci. It should be at the top of the list.

Now run this command, and post the output.

Is this a USB or a PCI wireless device? I've done some research, and MadWifi doesn't support USB.

If you don't know what kind of device it is, post the output of these two commands;

Once more, thanks for the help. I ran the sudo modprobe ath_pci, and ath_pci now appears when i use the lsmod command. Still no internet though. Here's the result of the iwconfig;

If this is a USB wireless device, then I lead you down the wrong path. Please post the output of the two commands from my previous post.

I'm almost sure it's PCI (Although i'm not so sure on what that is), it's built into my laptop, and doesn't take up any USB slots or anything.

EDIT: After looking at this, i'm pretty sure it's PCI.
