Wireless Internet - works on Windows, doesn't work on Ubuntu Netbook remix
Hi all, same old story.
I have a netbook computer running Ubuntu Netbook Remix.
I have just moved to a new house where the Internet is wireless.
I have no problem using the Internet when running Windows (my netbook is dual-booted). So it is not an hardware problem.
While on Windows I made a note about all the connection parameters.
On Linux, I access the list of wireless connections available.
I click on the one of my house.
At that point, there is the 'wireless security' dialog asking me for some information (as the connection is encrypted).
I selected 'WEP 40/128 bit key'.
I entered the key
I tried all the WEP index, from 1 to 4
As authentication I selected open system
With those parameters, the connection can't be established.
So I tried a different route.
I went to 'Preferences' -> 'Network connection' -> 'Create new wireless connection'.
BSSID: left blank
MAC address: left blank
SECURITY: WEP 40/128 bit key
IPv4 settings METHOD: DHCP (automatic)
DHCP CLIENT ID: left empty
ROUTES: left empty
With those settings I can established a connection with the router but I can't connect to the Internet :-(
Any idea? How can I debug this?
