Gain root privileges and execute this
Code:
vi /etc/lilo.conf
It will open lilo.conf file in vi editor. Press i and edit file. ( Check Post #10 to set correct value of default. )
Press Esc, : ( its a full colon ), x and hit enter key to save file.

Open file in vi -- i -- edit file -- Esc -- : -- x -- hit Enter key.
Execute lilo command now.

thank you that would have worked,but I discovered my distro had a boot mang. in controll center that had a drop list that let me chose boot order thanks again
