touchpad mouse stops working....

I got in my new Gateway laptop monday, and it contains a touchpad mouse. When I boot the yoper iso, it works, until I get to the partion program, in which case it runs for a few seconds, and then freezes.

using Fdisk, however, I've noticed that the disk came with 3 partitions, for some unknown reason, already on it. I know that one of them is a sort of "rescue disk" for the XP that came on it, but the partitions are still numbered wrong, according to it.

Is the program simply freezing due to the partitions being wrong?
