Yoper on laptop related questions...

Hi all,

recently switched to yoper on my desktop, and wanted to put it on my laptop, for which the specs will be found below. I put in my CD, I get to QTpartD, and my computer freezes. Here's what I know....

Gateway put their system restore disc as an actual partition on the harddrive, but labeled it really weird, so, despite the fact that it's technically the first partition on the drive, it's labeled #5. I've long since formatted this partition, however, since I have no use for it whatsoever, and find gateway's support laughable at best.

The other question is how well supported my integrated intel wireless card will be in Yoper, will any extra downloads be required?

computer specs:

Gateway M210CS

I can't speak to the intel Wireless. But Yoper on my Dell Inspiron 9100 and my Dad's Gateway Solo runs great. So far I have installed it on five different boxes and Yopr has always detected and configured just about everything.

If you do have an issue from installing it on your laptop, we are here to help. good luch and have fun.

I think I've found out how to fix the partitioning issue...

but I'm worried about support for the Broadcom 802.11b/g wireless card...

is anyone aware of support for this?

Have you tried Linuxant, yet?

http://www.linuxant.com/driverloader/index.php

You have to pay, but they DO offer network drivers for most chipsets.

Also, http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

Also, try THIS thread, for another distro, similar basis/problems, with MANY different laptops:
