Never used Yoper, but I've used IceWM with most all the others. If you like lightweight, blindingly fast, highly and easily configurable and very easy on resources, have a look at IceWM.

I think you should go with GNOME...it has a nifty dictionary applet that you can put on the panel.

It's very much personal preference. But, I personally like Windowmaker.

It's very clean, lightweight, and stable.

For a heavyweight desktop environment, I converted to KDE. I might switch back to GNOME, but I just hate how the wm didn't allow for windows snapping together at the edges (I'm a neat freak like that). Other than that, I do like the look and feel of GNOME.

Hmm... you can both with something like Fluxbox or Enlightenment you know. WM's just get a bad rap because it's just a bit harder to make them look cool, but with a bit of patience and configuration I can make Flux look just as cool as KDE, IMO.

I suggest GNOME bacause all the applications that I use under Linux are GTK (KDE uses QT). Firefox, Thunderbird, OpenOffice, Gimp, Gaim, and whichever other popular application you can think of is GTK.
