open itunes, plug in player, push center circle and menu button at same time on the ipod, hold until the apple appears, then release. It may flash to scroll menu then back to "do not disconnect" but dont touch it you will then see the ipod icon show up on left side of itunes also the eject just to the right of that. click eject. little nano is all better. Before this I wanted to smash it with a hammer!!!

Did you misread the last post? This is a linux forum and thus we don't have access to iTunes. There are many linux related suggestions as to how to solve this problem and this isn't one.

Hi I also had this problem before. All I had to do is press the menu button and center button for about 6 seconds. If it doesn't work for you, I found a great tech support site that had some other suggestion. It seems like a very common problem not only in linux... Here is the solution page for the Do Not Disconnect problem.
